Learning outcomes
PLO 7. To understand the main problems of philology and approaches to their solution using appropriate methods and innovative approaches. PLO 8. To know and understand the language system, the general properties of literature as an art of speech, the history of the Persian language and literature, and to be able to apply this knowledge in professional activities. PLO 13. To analyze and interpret works of Ukrainian and Persian fiction and oral folk art, determine their specificity and place in the literary process of Iran and Ukraine. PLO 15. To carry out linguistic, literary and special philological analysis of texts of various styles and genres. PLO 16. To know and understand the basic concepts, theories and concepts of the chosen philological specialization, to be able to apply it.

Prerequisites and co-requisites
1) knowledge of the practical Persian language course and practical grammar covering three years of study; 2) knowledge of the theoretical foundations of the course “Fundamentals of Literary Studies (with a regional focus).”
Course content
The aim of this course is to provide students of Oriental studies with a comprehensive and systematic overview of the development of genres and styles in Persian poetry; to outline the characteristics of the genre system; and to introduce them to the theory of stylistic periods in Persian poetry and prose as studied in Iranian philology. The course involves a detailed study of the genre system of Persian poetry from its very inception and heyday during the classical period of the 10th–15th centuries to the present day, as well as an introduction to the theory of styles and stylistic eras in Persian literature, as developed by Iranian literary studies. The course “Persian Classical Poetics (Term Paper)” is part of the elective block “Iranian Studies: Linguistic Studies and Translation.” Instruction takes the form of lectures and seminars, includes a term paper, and also requires independent study. The course concludes with a final exam.

Assessment methods and criteria
40% is theoretical training (knowledge of genres and styles), 60% is practical training (ability to analyze texts, communication, and independence). Assessment methods: Oral responses and discussions: up to 20 points per semester (5 points per class). Written/test assignments: up to 20 points (10 points per assignment). Research assignment (essay/presentation): up to 20 points. Module exams (2): up to 20 points. Term paper: up to 20 points (minimum 12 for a passing grade). Grading criteria: High level (9–10 points / 5 points): complete mastery of the material, well-reasoned arguments, independent judgment. Sufficient level (7–8 points / 4 points): knowledge of the material with minor inaccuracies or lack of reasoning. Satisfactory level (6 points / 3 points): lack of depth of knowledge, significant errors. Final assessment — credit. To receive a “pass,” students must earn between 60 and 100 points for the semester.
