Learning outcomes
PR05. Demonstrate skills in assessing unpredictable biological problems and thoughtfully choosing ways to solve them
PR08. Know and understand the basic terms, concepts, theories and laws in the field of biological sciences and at the border of subject areas.
PR10. Know the basics of systematics, methods for detecting and identifying non-cellular life forms, prokaryotes and eukaryotes and apply them to solve specific biological problems.
PR12. Demonstrate knowledge of the structure, vital processes and functions of living organisms, understand the mechanisms of regulation of physiological functions to maintain homeostasis of biological systems.
PR14. Analyze the interactions of living organisms of different levels of phylogenetic kinship with each other, the peculiarities of the influence of various factors on living organisms and evaluate their role in biospheric processes of transformation of substances and energy.

Prerequisites and co-requisites
1. Successful mastery of scientific, theoretical and practical material of the academic disciplines taught to students of the Bachelor's degree: "Microbiology", "Biochemistry", "Fundamentals of Ecology and Nature Conservation".
2. Possession of elementary skills of independent search for information when working with scientific and scientific-methodical literature, be able to generalize it. Participate in debates and competently justify one's point of view.
3. Possess elementary skills of working with materials and equipment used in a biological laboratory.
Course content
The discipline "Ecology of Microorganisms" covers issues of modern ecological areas of microbiology, analyzes the adaptive potential of microorganisms, their indicator role in assessing the environment, explains the strategies of microorganisms, patterns of development and communication interactions of their natural populations.
