PR06. Be able to determine and analyze the main physicochemical properties of organic compounds that are part of biological agents (proteins, nucleic acids, carbohydrates, lipids).
PR10. Be able to conduct experimental studies to determine the influence of physicochemical and biological factors of the external environment on the vital activity of cells of living organisms.
PR26. Be able to use modern knowledge of the achievements of biological, environmental sciences, etc. to implement them in biotechnological production.
PR30. Be able to create biotechnological products with improved properties, taking into account the structural and functional characteristics of molecules of different origins of systems at different levels of organization, the role of systemic processes in their formation, functioning and plasticity, the features of their cooperative interaction, as well as the systematic nature of the organization of living things.

Prerequisites and co-requisites
1. Successful completion of the courses "Biology of Individual Development", "Human and Animal Physiology", "Biochemistry".
2. be able to independently apply knowledge of biology of individual development, human physiology, biochemistry and other disciplines, perform laboratory and practical work, work with scientific and methodological literature.
3. Possess basic skills in working with materials and equipment used in the study of sensory systems in laboratories of the relevant profile.
Course content
The course is devoted to studying the basics of developing and implementing sensors with various functions into practical use. Biosensors are analytical devices that use biochemical reactions to detect a wide range of chemical compounds: metabolites, drugs, environmental pollutants, etc. and are therefore widely used in medicine, pharmacology, veterinary medicine, ecology. Their development and implementation is one of the priority areas of modern biotechnology and requires the integration of knowledge in physiology, molecular biology, enzymology, genetic and protein engineering, analytical chemistry and nanotechnology. Given that biosensor devices imitate the functions of natural sensory systems, such as vision, hearing, taste, smell, the course examines the mechanisms of perception and processing of sensory information. The second part of the course is devoted to the classification of biosensors, the study of the basics of their development and functioning.
