Learning outcomes
PR01. Be able to apply modern mathematical methods to solve practical problems related to the research and design of biotechnological processes. Use knowledge of physics to analyze biotechnological processes. PR06. Be able to determine and analyze the main physicochemical properties of organic compounds that are part of biological agents (proteins, nucleic acids, carbohydrates, lipids). PR27. Be able to apply methods and approaches to creating biotechnological products based on protein molecules. PR33. Be able to apply in practice the principles of organizing and conducting biotechnological research to develop target biotechnological products of various spectrum. PR34. Be able to apply the methodology for obtaining protein molecules to search for and create promising biotechnological products.

Prerequisites and co-requisites
1. Successful completion of the courses "Fundamentals of Biotechnology", "Biochemistry", "Fundamentals of Molecular Biotechnology". 2. Be able to work with information databases, independently process scientific and methodological literature. 3. Have basic skills in working with materials and equipment used in a biological laboratory, in particular with a spectrophotometer, centrifuges, precision scales, pH meter, thermostats and incubators.
Course content
The discipline "Methods of Protein and Peptide Purification" provides students with a theoretical understanding of the full range of modern laboratory methods for purifying target proteins. During laboratory classes, students acquire practical skills in fractionating a mixture of protein molecules using the method of precipitation and various types of chromatography. Attention is also paid to the development of a comprehensive strategy for the purification of target proteins, i.e. optimization of the entire technological process in order to obtain the maximum yield of the target protein of high purity with a minimum number of steps.
