Learning outcomes
PLO4. Make a psychological forecast regarding the development of the individual, groups, and organisations. PLO5. Develop intervention programmes (training, expertise, consulting, etc.), implement them in individual and group work, and evaluate their quality. PLO10. Summarise the results of your own scientific research in the form of scientific reports of various forms (abstracts, articles, reports, presentations).
Form of study
Prerequisites and co-requisites
1. Students shall know the basic concepts of general, social and political psychology, the basic characteristics of mental processes, the patterns of communication, the features of large-crowd and interpersonal communication and the mechanisms of social-psychological influence. 2. They shall be able to work with concepts and categories used in general, social and political psychology, to recognize and qualify certain social-psychological processes and phenomena, to know the methods for their research. 3. They shall know how to use the methods of theoretical and empirical analysis, mastered within the courses: “Social Psychology”, “Psychology of Interpersonal Understanding”, “Political Psychology”, “Psychology of Political Communication”.
Course content
The course purpose is to form students’ ideas about cultural differences, so that they know about approaches and criteria of cultural studies, to improve their sensitive perception of cultural specifics and their ability to interpret specific manifestations in communications taking place in different cultural settings. The course teaches about the general methodological principles applied for defining and studying the culture as a phenomenon; it reveals the issues of cross-cultural communication as a specific type of communication, its content and functions; the course highlights applied aspects of cross-cultural communication, problems appearing at mastering another’s culture, barriers in cross-cultural communication, ways to overcome them

Assessment methods and criteria
Assessment methods: Oral answers, participation in discussions, modular tests, individual creative work, a final test. The form of final control is a credit. Organization of evaluation: The credit is granted based on the results of the student’s work during the semester: 1. Oral answers (recitations, presentations): 15/9 points 2. Participation in discussions, additional remarks: 6/6 points 3. Modular tests: 21/12 points 4. Executed individual creative works: 18/13 points 4. Final test: 40/20 points The semester score is formed as a sum of the points obtained by a student during studying at all modules and the points obtained for their individual creative works. The maximum score for work during the semester is 100: 0 - 59 - not credited; 60 - 100 - credited.
