Learning outcomes
PLO1. Analyze and explain mental phenomena, identify psychological problems and suggest ways to solve them. PLO5. Independently choose and apply valid and reliable psychodiagnostic tools (tests, questionnaires, projective methods, etc.) of psychological research and technology of psychological assistance. PLO6. Formulate the purpose, objectives of the study, have the skills to collect primary material, the ability to follow the research procedure. PLO7. Reflect and critically evaluate the reliability of the results of psychological research, formulate reasoned conclusions. PLO9. To offer own ways of solving psychological tasks and problems in the process of professional activity, to make and argue own decisions on their solution.

Prerequisites and co-requisites
- Know the theoretical foundations of general psychology, anatomy and physiology of the CNS. - Have basic skills in research, search, systematization and analysis of information from various sources, the use of information and communication technologies.
Course content
This discipline is aimed at studying the specifics of scientific research, namely: the formation of experimental psychology as scientific psychology; types of psychological research; structure and logic of psychological research; ethics of psychological research; classification of psychological research methods, in particular empirical methods in psychology and their use in various types of psychological research, as well as the main provisions of experimental psychology, consideration of the main research strategies in psychology; specifics of the main components of the experiment: hypothesis, sample, variables; features of measuring and scaling mental phenomena; specifics of planning an experiment in psychology and interpreting the results of experimental research.

Lecture, seminars, individual work
Assessment methods and criteria
Oral reports, discussion, presentation, final test, exam. Semester assessment: answers to seminars, independent work are evaluated. Oral answer - from 12 to 20 points. Addition - from 6 to 10 points. Independent individual work - from 12 to 20 points. Final test - from 6 to 10 points. The maximum number of points for work during the semester is 60, the minimum - 36. The maximum number of points for the exam is 40, the minimum is 24. Rating scale: 90-100 - excellent; 75-89 - good; 60-74 - satisfactory; 0-59 - unsatisfactory.
