Know the lexical minimum for obtaining, producing and exchanging general and professional information, for example, regarding the place of applied physics in the general system of knowledge about nature and societies; grammatical forms and structures necessary for effective communication in a professional environment; the structure and rules for constructing oral and written discourse in situations of foreign language scientific communication; about ways to maintain academic integrity; moral, cultural and scientific values ​​and achievements of society; analyze, predict and evaluate the main ecological aspects of physical phenomena, the impact of natural and artificial processes on the natural environment and human health during discussions and reports.

Prerequisites and co-requisites
A prerequisite for studying the discipline is the successful completion of the English language entrance exam, and, as a result, the ability to operate with knowledge and skills previously formed during the study of a foreign language (English) at level B2 according to the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages ​​(CEFR).
Course content
"Foreign Language for Academic Purposes" is included in the list of mandatory disciplines for first-year master's students and is part of the educational and professional program for training specialists at the "Master" educational and qualification level. It ensures the personal and professional development of applicants. The proposed content parts of the academic discipline and the educational material of practical classes correspond to the level of knowledge of applicants of the educational program of the field of knowledge 10 Natural Sciences, specialty 105 "Applied Physics and Nanomaterials" and are coordinated with the educational program Radiophysics and Electronics.

Assessment methods and criteria
Final assessment in the form of a credit for students who scored a total of fewer points than the critical calculation minimum - 36 points. To be admitted to the credit, they must complete the tasks of the program minimum provided for by the curriculum: presentation, modular test, professional direction tasks and oral interview on topics. Masters who scored during the current control (for classroom and independent work) fewer points than the critical calculation minimum - 36 points are not allowed to take the exam and are considered to have failed the program minimum provided for by the curriculum. To receive a positive assessment, it is necessary to make a presentation, write a modular test, an abstract of an article on scientific interest and complete tasks on a professional direction.
