Knowledge: Basic theories of post-modernist geography; Concepts of imagined spaces and communities; Evolution of major imagined spatial concepts along with the evolution of geographic knowledge; Imagined spaces in world macro-regions; Principles of place branding Skills: Critical analysis and deconstruction of imagined spatial concepts; Practical place branding skills for spatial planning and governance needs

Course content
In recent decades, post-modernist geographers have demonstrated that geographic knowledge and spatial concepts (including territorial state, nation, community, landscapes etc.), in many ways are rather a set of subjective images of space rather than objective picture of the world. The course focuses on the mechanisms spatial images are created, analysis of the imagined elements of the geographic space as well as on the strategy of place branding for the needs of spatial planning and governance.

Planned learning activities and teaching methods
Learning is performed in the form of lectures and рractical work. After lectures on each part end, there is a thematic test.
Assessment methods and criteria
Semester assessment: the number of points that the student receives during the semester is the sum of the points obtained during the evaluation of practical work and thematic tests. Organization of assessment: practical work in classes is evaluated upon completion, in accordance with the schedule of practical work. During the semester, winners perform practical work. The maximum number of points for practical works is 50. Thematic controls are conducted in the form of tests with the maximum score of 10 points each. Conditions for admission to the credit test: the recommended minimum for admission to the final assessment is 48 points. Students who scored a total of fewer points than the recommended minimum (48 points) to be admitted to the final assessment is required to submit essays on the topics he/she has missed and/or received insufficient points.
