P01. Know, understand and be able to use in practice basic concepts from the theory of physical geography, landscape ecology, and worldview sciences.
P03. Explain the peculiarities of the organization of geographical space depending on its physical and geographical features, landscape structure features P07. Determine the main characteristics, processes, history and composition of the landscape shell and its components
P08. Apply models, methods of physics, chemistry, geology, ecology, mathematics, information technology, etc. when studying natural and social processes of the formation and development of landscapes and their components
Form of study
Full-time form
Prerequisites and co-requisites
1. Know the key provisions of the theoretical foundations of the disciplines of the physical and geographical cycle, taught during the 1st-5th semesters (landscape science, geology, geomorphology, soil science, hydrology and oceanology, meteorology, biogeography, fundamentals of geoecology, etc.);
2. Be able to apply the principles, approaches and methods of landscape research, analyze the physical properties and chemical composition of landscape components;
3. Possess the methods of geographical analysis and synthesis, basic knowledge of assessing the state of landscapes, methods of statistical and mathematical analysis;
4. Possess the tools for searching for landscape information, in particular, quantitative data on geophysical and geochemical parameters of landscapes in various information sources.
Course content
The range of theoretical and applied issues of landscape-geophysical and landscape-geochemical research is highlighted, in particular the content and approaches to studying a number of scientific (energy and mass exchange in landscapes, physical and chemical factors of their differentiation and functioning, landscape migration processes, classification of geochemical landscapes, etc.) and applied (analysis of human impact on geophysical processes in the landscape, landscape-geochemical assessment of the ecological state of territories, etc.) issues within these areas. The methods of modern landscape-geophysical and landscape-geochemical research are considered; landscape-geophysical and geochemical features of the structure and dynamics of natural and anthropogenically modified landscapes, their main properties and the processes occurring in them.
