Learning outcomes
Apply the acquired theoretical knowledge and practical skills to study natural, social and territorial systems at different levels of spatial organization, including the transboundary level (PR01) Communicate freely on professional and scientific issues in a foreign language (PR03) Be able to identify, pose and solve scientific and applied problems, and critically evaluate decisions made, including at the transboundary level of nature protection (PR05). (PR07). Assess possible risks, socio-economic and geo-ecological consequences of implementing management decisions in the field of nature use, nature protection, urban and regional development, recreation and tourism (PR11). Conduct geoecological studies of green infrastructure of territories to organize systems for the protection and preservation of landscapes, habitats and biodiversity (PR17).

1. Know about the use of international environmental conventions and treaties.
2. Know the key principles of specialized geographical disciplines.
3. Know the environmental legislation of Ukraine.
4. Know the basic landscape and ecological definitions in English.

Course content
the discipline examines the theoretical
foundations and practical aspects of globalization and international cooperation in the protection of

landscapes and biodiversity, as well as examines the prospects, challenges and examples of such
cooperation in Ukraine. The discipline consists of three content parts.
In the first content part, the main historical stages and theoretical prerequisites of international
cooperation on the protection of landscapes and biodiversity, its regulatory and legal framework, as
well as the specifics of using landscape approaches in the formation of the national strategy and its
action plan for the protection of biodiversity are analyzed.
The second content part analyzes Ukraine's efforts to protect landscapes, as well as
biodiversity.
The third content part examines modern approaches to the protection and sustainable use of
landscape components, as well as biodiversity.
The academic discipline "Globalization and International Cooperation in protection of
landscapes and biodiversity" is one of the components of the comprehensive training for acquiring
the master degree in the specialty "106 Geography" of the educational program "Transboundary
environmental cooperation
