Learning outcomes
Familiarizing students with typical activities in the mining industry, which includes the selection, exploration, and development of deposits of relevant minerals, the production of metals and non-metallic raw materials, investment in metals, and trade in metals and non-metals. Mining projects are classified by type of mineral raw materials, life cycle stages, regional characteristics, production scale, and strategic importance of raw materials for individual regions or on a global scale. For each type of mining project, the specifics of selection, evaluation, investment, management, and implementation are studied. Practical skills are acquired in evaluating mining projects for various types of minerals using international and domestic examples. Statistical and probabilistic methods for assessing the risks of mining at different stages of the life cycle are studied.
Form of study
Full-time form
Prerequisites and co-requisites
1. Successful completion of introductory courses in “Fundamentals of Economic Geology and Mineral Resource Utilization” and “Selected Topics in Labor Law and Business Fundamentals.”
2. Possess skills in working with a personal computer and programs for statistical data processing, as well as a basic level of English, which is required for the third year in accordance with this curriculum.

Planned learning activities and teaching methods
Lectures and laboratory classes, independent work.
Assessment methods and criteria
Control is carried out using a modular rating system and includes: completion of 7 laboratory assignments (where students must demonstrate the quality of their acquired knowledge and solve the tasks set using the methods and means outlined by the teacher), completion of 2 independent assignments (where students must demonstrate the quality of their acquired knowledge and solve the tasks set without restrictions on the tools and techniques used to solve the problem) and completion of 2
written modular tests. The final assessment is conducted in the form of a test.
