Learning outcomes
Basic concepts and terms of theoretical petrophysics, classification of methods and their studied parameters. Methods of working with laboratory equipment. Principles of processing and geological interpretation of petrophysical data. Apply physical parameters of rocks to analyze natural processes and geological composition. Be able to organize a complex of petrophysical studies to effectively solve the task at hand.
Form of study
Full-time form
Prerequisites and co-requisites
1. Knowledge of the theoretical foundations of geophysical methods. 2. Basic skills in working with a personal computer. 3. Skills in mathematical statistics.
Course content
Study of the physical properties of rocks and methods for determining them. The petrophysical parameters of various physical groups are considered. The interrelationships between the physical and geological characteristics of rocks are explained using real-life examples. The areas of application of petrophysics are characterized by the results of interpretation. The methodology for the comprehensive processing of petrophysical data for the search for minerals is included in the consideration.
