Prerequisites and co-requisites
‒ know the basic concepts of logic and methodology of scientific research. ‒ have basic skills in summarizing and analyzing scientific, statistical and analytical publications.
Course content
The discipline is aimed at revealing the features of sociological and political science knowledge about society, models of social order and interactions, basic dimensions and problems of modern society, the logic of its development, socio-cultural and political-cultural characteristics and trends in the development of modern Ukrainian society. The discipline focuses students' attention on the results of research into values, identities, inequalities, social solidarity and conflicts, social relations in employment and policy systems, public and political opinion, influence and power, regimes in politics, political systems, civil society, features of modernization and democratization, parties and party systems, elections, and modern world politics.

Assessment methods and criteria
Answers to seminar questions are assessed during the actual seminar, and points are accumulated throughout the semester. An analytical task on a topic set by the lecturer is completed by each student as part of independent work throughout the semester and is assessed upon completion. A test is completed by students within a week after studying topics 1–7 as part of independent work.
