Prerequisites and co-requisites
Knowledge of the basic concepts and laws of modern economic theory, basic economic models, contradictions of transitional societies and driving forces of development.
Ability to think analytically, apply mathematical knowledge in the process of solving economic problems, in the analysis of economic systems.
Mastery of the basic general scientific and specific methods of economic research, economic categorical apparatus, public speaking skills.
Course content
The purpose of the discipline is to form in students modern economic thinking and a system of knowledge about the laws of the functioning of a market economy, the role of the state in modern economic systems and the directions of state regulation of transformation processes, the foundations of international economic relations. Providing fundamental knowledge of methodologies, concepts and methods of scientific research. Systematic study of categories and laws of economic life of both individual economic entities and society as a whole. Provides an opportunity to combine basic economic laws, determine the economic nature of market mechanisms, clarify the features of the mechanism of social reproduction and economic growth, determine the possibilities of integrating the economy of Ukraine into the system of world economic relations. The discipline consists of two content sections: Content section 1. General principles of socio-economic development - principles of the functioning of the economy; the essence, purpose, objectives and subject of study of economic theory; laws and principles of the development of economic systems. Content section 2. Theoretical foundations of the functioning of the economy at the micro, macro and global levels - basic principles of organizing and conducting economic activity at the micro, macro and global levels; activities of economic entities that involve the use of effective management methods in conditions of limited resources and aimed at maximum satisfaction of unlimited economic needs.

Assessment methods and criteria
The level of achievement of the planned learning outcomes is determined by assessing the student's work in seminar classes, writing final tests and completing an individual task and presenting its results (independent work) and final certification in the form of a test. 1. Participation in seminar classes (theoretical discussions, case studies, speeches with reports, essays, presentations, posing and answering additional questions) - 20 points / 12 points, including the assessment of all types of work from 1 to 5 points. 2. Test work (two tests are planned during the semester) - 10 points / 6 points each. 3. Preparation and defense of an independent individual task (two independent individual tasks are planned during the semester) - 10 points / 6 points each. A student is not allowed to take the exam if he/she scores less than 36 points (60% of 60 points) during the semester.
