PLO 3. To convey information, ideas, problems, solutions, own experience and arguments to specialists and non-specialists. PLO 6. To know the history and peculiarities of the development of geodesy and land management, their place in the general system of knowledge about nature and society.

1. Know the basic concepts of logic and methodology of scientific research. 2. Have basic skills in abstracting and analyzing scientific, statistical and analytical publications.
Course content
The purpose of the discipline is to form in students a professional understanding of the functioning and development of modern society, the specifics of sociological and political science knowledge of problems and trends in social development, politics and power, human interaction with various institutions, and the features of modern Ukrainian society in a comparative context. The discipline is aimed at revealing the features of sociological and political science knowledge about society, models of social order and interactions, basic dimensions and problems of modern society, the logic of its development, socio-cultural and political-cultural characteristics and trends in the development of modern Ukrainian society. The discipline focuses students' attention on the results of research into values, identities, inequalities, social solidarity and conflicts, social relations in employment and politics, public and political opinion, influence and power, regimes in politics, political systems, civil society, features of modernization and democratization, parties and party systems, elections, and modern world politics.

Assessment methods and criteria
1. Answers to seminar classes are evaluated during the actual conduct of seminar classes, points are accumulated throughout the semester. 2. An analytical task on a topic set by the lecturer is performed by each student as part of independent work throughout the semester and is evaluated upon completion. 3. A test is performed by students within a week after studying topics 1-7 as part of independent work. Final assessment in the form of a credit: the maximum number of points during the credit is 40, the minimum number of points added to the semester ones is 24 (60% of the maximum number of points allocated for the credit).
