Learning outcomes
Learning Outcome 1. Communicate fluently on professional matters with specialists and non-specialists in the national language and foreign languages, both orally and in writing, and use these languages to facilitate effective intercultural communication. LLO 14. Use Portuguese and English in spoken and written forms, across various genres, styles, and registers of communication (formal, informal, neutral), to solve communicative tasks in the everyday, social, educational, professional, and scientific spheres of life. Learning Outcome 15. Conduct linguistic, literary, and translation studies analysis of texts of various styles and genres. Learning Outcome 16. Know and understand the basic concepts, theories, and concepts of translation studies, and be able to apply them in professional practice. Learning Outcome 21. Interpret, summarize, annotate, and accurately translate spoken and written texts of various styles and genres, excluding highly specialized ones.

Prerequisites and co-requisites
To successfully complete the course “Practical Written and Oral Translation (Portuguese),” students must successfully master the core undergraduate courses, which will enable them to translate fluently and accurately from Portuguese into Ukrainian and vice versa. The combination of academic courses and student-selected electives will enable students to fully master all aspects of the Portuguese language, and the course “Practical Written and Oral Translation (Portuguese)” will help students apply their acquired skills to translate texts of varying levels of complexity, ensure successful communication between participants by employing a pragmatic approach to translation and cognitive correction of the target text, and master basic skills in translation, analysis, and interpretation of linguistic phenomena.
Course content
The aim of the course is to train highly qualified specialists and Portuguese translators by developing the relevant skills and competencies required of a future translator; to broaden their worldview and enhance their scientific-theoretical and scientific-methodological qualifications, which involves familiarizing students with the fundamental theoretical principles of interpreting and translation as an applied science; to teach the main types of lexical, stylistic, and grammatical transformations in the translation process with the aim of achieving equivalence; the practical application by students of translation principles, methods, and techniques, as well as the ability to select and use them in specific contexts, when translating various texts and for different purposes. Particular attention is paid to teaching methods for solving typical translation tasks and strategies for finding individual creative solutions when translating texts.

Completing practical assignments, written translation of texts, oral translation of texts, compiling a glossary, quizzes, and a test
Assessment methods and criteria
During the semester, the assessment is carried out in accordance with the types of work and forms of control described in paragraph 7.1 of the Program of the discipline. The semester assessment forms the score of the mid-course control. The points obtained in the discipline in the 5th semester are transferred in the percentage equivalent (30% of the points received - from the maximum number of 100 points - 30 points) to form the total score for the 6th semester of the multi-semester discipline.
