Course content
The academic discipline “Word Formation and Lexicology of the Vietnamese Language” is the first part of the comprehensive discipline “Theory and History of the Vietnamese Language”. The discipline provides basic information on the theory of Vietnamese word formation and lexicology. The main attention is focused on the problems of word definition, word-forming models, semantic analysis, and classification of the vocabulary of the Vietnamese language. In addition, the features of Vietnamese phraseology and lexicography are analyzed.

Planned learning activities and teaching methods
The course provides the following forms of training: lectures and seminars conducted using interactive teaching methods, and individual work. The main types of activities and, accordingly, the objects of semester control are: classroom activities, answers during seminars, written tests, project work. Detailed planned educational activities and teaching methods are presented in the work program of the discipline, published on the official website of the Educational and Scientific Institute of Philology.
Assessment methods and criteria
Knowledge control is carried out according to the ECTS system, which provides for a two-level assessment of the mastered material, including theoretical training, which is 40% of the total assessment, and practical training, which is 60% of the total assessment. The semester number of points is formed by the points received by the student for classroom activities and for individual work. The minimum score for the semester is 60 points, while the maximum score equals 100. The course ends with a final test. A "pass" is set based on the results of the student's work throughout the semester and does not provide for additional assessment activities. Criteria for semester assessment are presented in the work program of the discipline, published on the official website of the Educational and Scientific Institute of Philology.
