Course content
The aim of the course is to acquire practical basic knowledge and skills in Italian to facilitate the development of oral and written communication skills within the scope of the prescribed topics and vocabulary necessary for communication, reading, and comprehension — with the dictionary — of adapted fiction and simple texts on socio-cultural topics. The course is based on systemic-communicative and activity-oriented approaches and aims to develop skills in correct oral communication within the scope of everyday and regional studies topics. The course is taught in the first semester of the bachelor’s program and consists of 360 hours (12 ECTS credits), including 180 hours of practical classes and 180 hours of independent study. The course has 3 thematic modules and 3 module assessments. Final assessment concludes with an exam at the end of the semester. The teaching is based on a methodological framework that includes a selection of instructional materials on Italian phonetics, spelling, vocabulary, and grammar. The instructional materials incorporate the use of audiovisual courses designed to develop communicative and linguistic skills, as well as listening comprehension skills in Italian.
