Learning outcomes
PRN 8. To know and understand the language system, the general properties of literature as an art of speech, the history of the Persian language and literature, and to be able to apply this knowledge in professional activities. PRN 10. Know the norms of the literary Persian and English languages and be able to apply them in practical activities. PRN 11. To know the principles, technologies and methods of creating oral and written texts of various genres and styles in national and foreign (Persian and English) languages. PRN 18. Possess the skills to manage complex tasks or projects when solving difficult problems in professional activities in the field of Iranian studies and translation, and take responsibility for decision-making in unpredictable situations. PRN 20. Demonstrate basic knowledge of translation theory and the main theoretical and practical issues in translation studies as they pertain to a specific language pair (Persian and Ukrainian).

Prerequisites and co-requisites
Successful mastery of Persian grammar and a professional-level vocabulary from the course “Persian: Intermediate Level”; Knowledge of the basic theoretical principles, specific features, and issues of translation studies as a discipline; Ability to apply translation techniques in practice and to use search engines and online resource directories.
Course content
The aim of this course is to develop students’ translation skills in the field of media through written and oral one-way Persian-Ukrainian translation of texts in the relevant subject area. The course is designed to develop skills in written and oral Persian-Ukrainian one-way translation within the relevant subject area, utilizing the active vocabulary and phraseology characteristic of the media, as well as the free application of grammatical patterns and basic translation techniques. The course “Persian-Ukrainian Translation in the Media” is part of the elective course block “Iranian Studies: Linguistic Studies and Translation.” Instruction takes the form of practical classes and includes independent work—reading texts in the original language, as well as oral and written translation of media texts. The course concludes with an exam.

Assessment methods and criteria
Assessment is conducted according to the ECTS system and consists of two components: midterm assessment (60%) and a final exam (40%). Midterm assessment methods: Oral responses: assessment of vocabulary proficiency, translation skills, and the use of linguistic transformations (max. 20 points). Multiple-choice questions: assessment of theoretical knowledge (max. 10 points). Written translations: assesses independence and accuracy in translating media texts (max. 10 points). Module assignments: two assignments during the semester (max. 20 points). Grading criteria: 5 points (Excellent): complete mastery of the material, no errors, independence. 3–4 points (Good/Satisfactory): sufficient knowledge, but possible minor inaccuracies or lack of reasoning. 1–2 points (Unsatisfactory): fragmentary knowledge, significant errors, lack of independence. The exam (40 points) consists of a written translation and an oral consecutive translation.
