Learning outcomes
PLO 8. To know and understand the language system, the general properties of literature as an art of speech, the history of the Persian language and literature, and to be able to apply this knowledge in professional activities. PLO 13. To analyze and interpret works of Ukrainian and Persian fiction and oral folk art, determine their specificity and place in the literary process of Iran and Ukraine. PLO 15. To carry out linguistic, literary and special philological analysis of texts of various styles and genres. PLO 18. Possess the skills to manage complex tasks or projects when addressing challenging problems in professional activities related to Iranian studies and translation, and take responsibility for decision-making in unpredictable situations. PLO 20.Demonstrate a basic understanding of translation theory and the main theoretical and practical issues in translation studies as they apply to a specific language pair (Persian and Ukrainian).

Prerequisites and co-requisites
Successful completion of the courses “Persian Language: Advanced Level,” “Introduction to Persian Philology,” and “Linguistic and Cultural Studies of Iran”; as well as the comprehensive courses “History of Persian Literature” and “Literary Studies and Foreign Literature.” Knowledge of basic literary concepts, the history and culture of Iran in broad terms, the periodization of Iranian history; features of the phonetics, vocabulary, and grammar of the modern Persian language.
Course content
The aim of this course is to provide students of Iranian studies with a comprehensive and systematic overview of Iran’s “Shere-noo” (“New Poetry”)—a 20th-century poetic movement—and to outline its distinctive features and characteristics. It also aims to familiarize students with the works of leading Iranian poets. The course “New Poetry in Iran (Translation Studies Aspect)” involves a detailed study of the history of the emergence, formation, establishment, development, and flourishing of the “she’re nou” (“new poetry”) movement in Iran in the 20th century, as well as an introduction to the lives and works of leading Iranian poets, such as Nima Yushij, Nader Naderpour, Siyavash Qasraei, Ahmad Shamlou, Sograb Sepehri, Simin Begbaghani, Forugh Farrokhzad, and others. The course “New Poetry in Iran (Translation Studies Aspect)” is part of the elective course cluster “Iranian Studies: Linguistic Studies and Translation.” Instruction takes the form of lectures and seminars, and independent study is required. The course concludes with an exam.

Assessment methods and criteria
Grading is based on the ECTS system and consists of a midterm assessment (60 points) and a final exam (40 points). Midterm Assessment (max 60 points) Oral responses and discussions (20 points): assessed based on mastery of the material, the soundness of arguments, and the independence of judgment. Module assignments (20 points): two assignments worth 10 points each. Multiple-choice questions (10 points): assessment of knowledge through closed-ended questions. Research assignment/term paper/presentation (10 points): assessed based on the depth of exploration of the topic and the use of sources. Exam (max 40 points): Conducted in written and oral formats. The exam paper contains two theoretical questions (20 points each). Students who have earned a minimum of 36 points for the semester are admitted to the exam. Passing criteria: a passing grade on the exam starts at 24 points (60%). If this minimum is not met, the exam points are not added to the overall result.
