Learning outcomes
PLO 8. To know and understand the language system, the general properties of literature as an art of speech, the history of the Persian language and literature, and to be able to apply this knowledge in professional activities.
PLO 13. To analyze and interpret works of Ukrainian and Persian fiction and oral folk art, determine their specificity and place in the literary process of Iran and Ukraine.
PLO 15. To carry out linguistic, literary and special philological analysis of texts of various styles and genres.
PLO 19. Collect, analyze, organize, and interpret facts about language and speech, and use them to solve complex tasks and problems in specialized fields of professional practice and/or education.
PLO 20. To demonstrate basic knowledge of translation theory, basic theoretical and practical problems of translation studies in the aspect of a specific pair of languages (Persian and Ukrainian).

Prerequisites and co-requisites
Successful completion of the courses “Persian Language: Advanced Level,” “Introduction to Persian Philology,” and “Linguistic and Cultural Studies of Iran”; as well as the comprehensive courses “History of Persian Literature” and “Literary Studies and Foreign Literature.”
Knowledge of basic literary concepts, the history and culture of Iran in broad terms, the periodization of Iranian history, and the characteristics of the phonetics, vocabulary, and grammar of the modern Persian language.
Course content
The aim of the course is to familiarize students with the history of European translations of classical Persian poetry and the specific ways in which its imagery, motifs, genres, and poetic forms (ghazals, rubais, masnavis, dubaytis, etc.) have been received in European literatures (English, German, French, Polish, Russian, Ukrainian, etc.)
The course provides students with a detailed introduction to the history of European translations of classical Persian poetry, as well as the specific ways in which Eastern imagery and realities are perceived, utilized, and reproduced in European literatures, particularly in English, German, French, Polish, Russian, Ukrainian, and others. A critical analysis is conducted based on existing translations of examples of classical Persian poetry.
The course “Persian Poetry in European Reception (Translation Studies Aspect)” is part of the elective course cluster “Iranian Studies: Linguistic Studies and Translation.” Classes are conducted in the form of lectures and seminars, and independent study is required. The course concludes with a final exam.

Assessment methods and criteria
Assessment is based on the ECTS system and consists of two parts: evaluation of theoretical knowledge (40%) and practical training (60%). The total score for the semester is 100 points. Breakdown of points by assignment type: Oral responses and discussions: 20 points (4 sessions, 5 points each). Test assignments: 20 points (2 tests worth 10 points each). Research assignment (essay/presentation): 20 points. Module exams: 20 points (2 exams worth 10 points each). Final exam: 20 points. Grading criteria: 5 points (oral response) / 10 points (test/module): complete mastery of the material, well-reasoned arguments, independent judgment. Pass: awarded automatically if the student earns 60 or more points for the semester. Outstanding work: if the total is less than 60 points, the student must complete the topics in the form of independent assignments or tests. Final grade: “Pass” (60–100) or “Fail” (0–59).
