Learning outcomes
PLO 9. To characterize the dialectal and social varieties of the Persian languages, describe the sociolinguistic situation. PLO 12. To analyze Persian linguistic units, determine their interaction and characterize linguistic phenomena and processes that cause them. PLO 14. To use Persian and English in oral and written form, in various genre-stylistic varieties and registers of communication (official, unofficial, neutral) to solve communicative tasks in everyday, social, educational, professional, scientific spheres of life. PLO 16. To know and understand the basic concepts, theories and concepts of the chosen philological specialization, to be able to apply it. PLO 17. To collect, analyze, systematize and interpret the facts of language and speech and use them for solving complex problems in specialized fields of professional activity and/or education.

Prerequisites and co-requisites
Successful completion of the following courses: “Linguistic and Cultural Studies of Iran,” “Persian Language: Beginner Level,” “Persian Language: Intermediate Level,” “Lexicology of the Persian Language,” “Fundamentals of Persian Translation Theory,” and “Fundamentals of Persian Translation Practice.” Knowledge of linguistic terminology and the basic laws of language development (from the course “Fundamentals of Linguistics”), as well as the basic concepts and terminology from the course “Lexicology of the Persian Language.”
Course content
The aim of this course is to provide students with a comprehensive understanding of the phraseological system of the Persian language and the structural-semantic classification of Persian phraseological units; to examine the historical and sociocultural context of its development, the sources of Persian phraseology, and the characteristics of its use in speech—that is, all the elements that constitute its national and cultural specificity. The course aims to familiarize students with the current state of research in the field of Persian phraseology and the structure of this discipline, as well as to highlight the national and cultural specificity of the Persian phraseological system. The course consists of two main sections. The first section addresses the scope and boundaries of Persian phraseology, modeling, polysemy, and synonymy within the phraseological system of the Persian language, as well as the sources of origin of Persian phraseological units. The second part is devoted to the structural-semantic classification of Persian phraseological units, formulas of everyday communication, and the semantic and structural-grammatical characteristics of the paremiological corpus of the Persian language. The course “Ethnocultural Specifics of Persian Phraseology” is part of the elective block “Iranian Studies: Linguistic Studies and Translation.” Instruction takes the form of lectures and seminars, and independent study is required. The course concludes with a final exam.

Assessment methods and criteria
Grading is based on the ECTS system: theoretical work accounts for 40% and practical work for 60% of the total grade. Assessment methods (midterm exam) The maximum score is 100 points; the minimum passing score is 60 points. Oral responses and discussions: up to 20 points (minimum—12). Written and test assignments: up to 20 points (minimum—12). Term paper/presentation: up to 20 points (minimum—12). Module exams (2): up to 20 points total (minimum — 12). Final exam: up to 20 points (minimum — 12). Grading criteria: High level (90–100%): complete mastery of the material, well-reasoned arguments, independent judgment. Satisfactory level (60–89%): sufficient knowledge, but with possible inaccuracies or weak reasoning. Unsatisfactory level (<60%): fragmentary knowledge, lack of independent thinking, significant errors. Final assessment — a grade awarded based on the semester’s results.
