Prerequisites and co-requisites
1) Successful completion of the courses “Persian Language: Intermediate Level,” “Fundamentals of Persian Translation Practice,” “Fundamentals of Persian Translation Theory,” and “Iranian Linguistics and Area Studies”;
2) Knowledge of the theoretical foundations of philology (linguistics and literary studies).
Course content
The aim of the course is to conduct a substantive analysis of the forms and trends in scientific information support and to identify the specific features of their implementation in the field of Iranian studies, developing competence among Orientalists specializing in Iranian studies regarding theoretical and practical issues in the field, as well as an understanding of linguistic processes and phenomena of the Persian language, to enable qualified and creative work at various stages of future study and scientific research.
Theoretical material is presented on the management of scientific and information activities through the development of scientific and information resources and the organization of their effective use, primarily in the process of providing scientific and information support for research work and the educational process; conducting research on issues in Iranian studies; carrying out organizational and methodological work related to the use of scientific and information resources, means of scientific communication, the implementation of innovative measures, the mastery of new scientific and information technologies, and the enhancement of the scientific and information competence of specialists in Iranian studies.
The course “Information Support for Philological Research in the Field of Iranian Studies” is part of the elective course cluster “Iranian Studies: Linguistic Studies and Translation.” Instruction takes the form of practical sessions and includes independent study. The course concludes with a final exam.

Assessment methods and criteria
Assessment consists of an evaluation of theoretical knowledge (40% of the total grade) and practical skills (60%). The following are assessed throughout the semester: Oral responses and participation in discussions: up to 20 points for 4 sessions. Written and test assignments: up to 20 points. Research assignment (essay/presentation): up to 20 points. Module exams (two): up to 20 points in total. Final exam: up to 20 points.Assessment criteria5 points (oral response) / 10 points (test/module exam) / 20 points (final exam): comprehensive, in-depth, and well-reasoned mastery of the material, independent judgment, and 100% correct completion of tests. Satisfactory (60–75% of max.): the student generally masters the material, but answers contain inaccuracies, lack depth of knowledge, or lack reasoning. Unsatisfactory (less than 60%): fragmentary knowledge, lack of independence in work, fewer than 6 correct answers on tests.
