Learning outcomes

PLO 15. Carry out linguistic, literary and special philological analysis of texts of various styles and genres.

Prerequisites and co-requisites
1. The content and objectives of the course "History of Foreign Literature of the 17th-18th Centuries" require students to update their historical, literary and theoretical knowledge from the courses on the history of foreign literature of antiquity, the Middle Ages and the Renaissance, which they acquired in the 2nd and 3rd semesters of the "English Studies" specialty at the National Research Institute of Literature of Taras Shevchenko National University of Kyiv. 2. The course "History of Foreign Literature of the 17th-18th Centuries" directs students to the subject-specific application of ideas and practices of educational and research activities, in particular in the course Introduction to Literary Studies, which is taught at Taras Shevchenko National University of Kyiv in the 1st year of study.
Course content
"History of Foreign Literature of the 17th-18th Centuries" is a basic normative discipline. It is taught in 4 semesters in the amount of 60 hours (2 credits) including: lectures - 14 hours, seminars - 16 hours, independent work - 30 hours. The course is concluded with an exam. In practical classes and during modular tests, students consolidate the acquired knowledge and skills and solve creative tasks of modern literary studies on the material of English-language texts.

Assessment methods and criteria
The final assessment is carried out in the form of a written exam.
Admission requirements for the final assessment: a student is not allowed to take the exam if
he has scored less than 36 points during the semester.
