Learning outcomes
PRN 7. Understand the main problems of philology and approaches to solving them using appropriate methods and innovative approaches.
PLO 8. Know and understand the language system, the general properties of literature as an art of speech, the history of the English language and literature, be able to apply this knowledge in professional activities.
PLO 12. Analyze language units, determine their interaction and characterize the linguistic phenomena and processes that determine them.
PLO 15. Carry out linguistic, literary and special philological analysis of various styles and genres.
PLO 18. Have the skills to manage complex actions or projects when solving complex problems in professional activities in the field of English philology and be responsible for making decisions in unpredictable conditions.
PLO 19. Have the skills to participate in scientific and/or applied research in the field of philology.

Prerequisites and co-requisites
The student must successfully master the following academic disciplines: "General English", "Theoretical English" Parts 1-3, and know:
- basic linguistic concepts;
be able to:
- apply linguistic tools in practice;
- have the skills;
- selection, analysis and interpretation of speech facts;
- communication on linguistic topics.
Course content
The main goal of the discipline is to study the stylistic resources of the language, stylistic norms, and systematize knowledge about the variability of the language depending on the scope of its application. The study of stylistics deepens, generalizes, and systematizes students' knowledge and prepares students to conduct their own linguistic research. The course consists of lectures, practical classes, and individual work, the purpose of which is to provide student with additional materials to prepare for practical classes. The discipline ends with an exam.

Assessment methods and criteria
Knowledge control is carried out according to the ECTS system, which provides for a two-level assessment of the mastered material, in particular, the assessment of theoretical training - learning outcomes - learning outcomes (skills 2.1-2.2); (communication 3.1-3.2); (autonomy and responsibility 4.1), which is 60% of the total score. The final assessment is carried out in the form of a comprehensive exam: - the maximum number of points on the exam is 40 points, the minimum number of points (positive grade), which are added to the semester grades - 24 points (60% of the maximum number of points allocated for the exam); - the following learning outcomes are assessed in the exam: LO1.1-1.4, 2.1, 2.2, 3.2; - the exam is carried out in the form of a written paper, the exam paper consists of two tasks: 1) a theoretical question (50%, or 20 points); 2) practical task (stylistic analysis) (50%, or 20 points).
