Learning outcomes
PLO 1. Communicate freely on professional issues with specialists and non-specialists in the state and foreign languages, orally and in writing, use them to organize effective intercultural communication.
PLO 2. Work effectively with information: select the necessary information from various sources, in particular from professional literature and electronic databases, critically analyze and interpret it, organize, classify and systematize it.

Prerequisites and co-requisites
Before the discipline starts, students must know the key events and processes of world history and the history of Ukraine, basic cultural concepts and categories; Be able to analyze and interpret literature, primary sources and reference materials on the historical and cultural development of Ukraine and other countries of the world at a basic level, apply modern information and communication technologies in teaching. Possess elementary skills of critical thinking and teamwork.
Course content
The curriculum "Ukrainian and Foreign Culture" was created on the basis of the scientific school of the Department of Ukrainian Philosophy and Culture of the Faculty of Philosophy of Taras Shevchenko National University of Kyiv. The discipline involves the study of the theory and functions of culture, the main stages of cultural development and the typology of world cultures, sources from the history of Ukrainian and foreign culture, mechanisms that regulate cultural practice and the interaction of people in the community. When studying the discipline, the emphasis is on the analysis of cultural phenomena and processes that occurred in different historical periods, their interconnections and mutual influences are traced, cultural features that were formed in different regions of the world, including Ukraine. The discipline involves the study of the main achievements of Ukrainian and foreign culture, the conditions for their emergence and the analysis of characteristic features, in particular the main achievements of art of different historical periods, the study of the activities of cultural institutions.

Assessment methods and criteria
The course ends with а credit.
Students’ performance during the term is the sum of the points accumulated for their work in classroom (oral reports), individual work and final control work. The minimum score for the term is 48 points, while the maximum score equals 80. The minimum score for the credit is 12 and the maximum score is 20.
