Full-time form
Prerequisites and co-requisites
A student has to successfully master the following subjects: "General English" and "General Linguistics"; know the basic linguistic concepts and have basic skills in the selection, analysis and interpretation of speech facts, as well as be able to discuss linguistic issues.
Course content
The curriculum highlights the problems of determining the place of theoretical phonetics among other linguistic sciences, the study of the phonetic approach to the sound structure of language and the prosodic structure of English sentences. The course of theoretical phonetics allows to deepen, generalize and systematize the knowledge gained by students in the process of practical mastery of language and prepares students for their own research.

Planned learning activities and teaching methods
Classes are held in the form of lectures, seminars and self-study, which aims to help students prepare for practical classes. Each activity is evaluated separately: tasks performed in the process of self-study: 20/10 points; midpoint assessment (test): 20/5 points. Answers at practical classes are evaluated from 20 to one point depending on the completeness of the disclosure and originality of the proposal to solve the problem under consideration.
Assessment methods and criteria
The final evaluation takes the form of a credit. The grade is formed as the sum of all points scored during the semester for each type of activity (self-study - 20/10, oral answers 20/1, tests 20/5). Evaluation is based on a 100-point scale: 0-59 - failed; 60-100 - passed.
