LO09. Know and apply the theory, didactics and teaching methodology of integrated natural science courses in general secondary education institutions.

Prerequisites and co-requisites
A) Before the study of this course, students must have knowledge of the basics of state and law, which would give an idea of the formation and development of society and its institutions. B) be able to collect and interpret information about socio-political processes, to apply basic concepts in the critical understanding of the events that take place in the modern world political process. C) have elementary scientific research skills in finding, critical selection and systematization of information both applied and theoretical nature.
Course content
The course "socio-political studies" is aimed at covering and explaining the basic provisions, the content of which reflects the modern achievements of world and domestic humanitarian knowledge in all the diversity of scientific guidelines. "Studies" reveal the principles and patterns of functioning and development of the sociopolitical system as a whole, and its individual institutions, in particular: states as a fundamental institute of political system, public organizations and political parties (with explanation of their ideological foundations). The essence of the phenomenon of power and the methods and limits of its implementation is explained in detail. Historical and current modern features of transformation of political regimes are revealed and a comparative analysis of the characteristics of democratic and undemocratic regimes is carried out. The phenomenon of social and political conflicts and their specific forms and manifestations are revealed. The essence of the election institute and stages and specifics of the election campaigns is determined, the mechanisms of election engineering, technologies for the formation of the candidate image and the features of the political market functioning are revealed. The main trends of the development of modern world politics and the peculiarities of the domestic political process are revealed.

Planned learning activities and teaching methods
Lectures, seminar classes, independent work
Assessment methods and criteria
Written work, oral presentations, presentation of independent research. Final control - a maximum of 20 points. It is carried out in the form of credit in in writing (test) in the last week of the semester. The condition for admission to the credit is the student's performance of practical tasks and creative work with a total score of at least 40 points. Students who scored less than 60 points on all successfully completed forms of control, to increase their grade to 60 points, get the opportunity to write an additional control paper and complete homework.
