Learning outcomes
Recognize objects in images; select images based on their main characteristics; read metadata of a space image; perform orthorectification; analyze and evaluate space images based on their parameters, correctly identify, classify, and apply images in scientific and practical activities; apply knowledge to search and select space images to solve a specific task
Form of study
Full-time form
Prerequisites and co-requisites
Students must have theoretical knowledge of the physical foundations of electromagnetic radiation, the nature and characteristics of optical radiation; the features of the passage of radiation through the Earth's atmosphere. Have practical skills in methods and techniques of photogrammetric processing of aerial photographs and automated decoding of space images.
Course content
The discipline is related to related fields of knowledge, such as aerospace research methods, geoinformatics, cartography, and is a logical continuation and completion of the courses “Fundamentals of Remote Sensing of the Earth”, “Digital Image Processing”. The course consists of two content modules. The first is devoted to general issues of pattern recognition theory, methods and techniques for improving the quality of space imagery, and photogrammetric methods for processing digital images. The second module reveals methods and techniques for processing satellite images, automated decoding, and their use to solve land management and cadastral problems.

Planned learning activities and teaching methods
Lectures, seminars, practical works.
Assessment methods and criteria
Аll types of work are carried out during the semester, including independent work and performance of individual tasks. For students who scored a total of less points than the critical calculation minimum - 20 points, it is necessary to re-study the course in order to receive credit.
For works submitted late, 2 points are deducted for each day of delay.
In the case of a student's absence due to valid reasons, re-examination and re-submission of the MKR are carried out in accordance with the "Regulations on the procedure for evaluating students' knowledge under the credit-module system of organizing the educational process" dated October 31, 2010.
