The discipline program covers such fundamental concepts of higher mathematics as sets, functions and relations on sets, matrices, determinants and actions with them, coordinate systems, vectors and operations with them, equations of lines on a plane, equations of a straight line and a plane in space, limit and continuity of a function , derivative, differential, elements of probability theory and mathematical statistics.
These basic mathematical concepts are necessary for preparing students to use the methods of linear, vector algebra, analytical geometry, mathematical analysis, mathematical statistics for understanding tools, mathematical methods and models, which are used in further training courses when conducting practical statistical research in natural geography, in the application of geographic information systems and technologies, promoting the development of students' logical and analytical thinking.

            Assessment methods and criteria

Written modular tests, assessment of work in practical classes, assessment of tasks for independent work. A condition for admission to credit is that the student receives a total of no less than the critical-calculated minimum of 30 points per semester. The form of assessment is written. The credit is evaluated on a 40-point scale. Theoretical questions according to the course program, typical and complex problems are submitted for assessment. In total, you can get from 0 to 40 points for the credit.
A condition for achieving a positive grade for a discipline is obtaining at least 60 points.
