Learning outcomes
The functional component of the discipline involves the acquisition of such competencies as the ability to preserve and enhance the moral, cultural, scientific values and achievements of society based on an understanding of the history and patterns of development of urban geography, its place in the general system of knowledge about nature and society and in the development of society, technology and technology, to use various types and forms of physical activity for active recreation and healthy lifestyle, the ability to think critically, analyze and synthesize, the ability to focus on quality and results in the performance of tasks, ability to identify, formulate and solve problems in the field of urban studies.

Prerequisites and co-requisites
1. Successful mastery of the disciplines “Mathematical and statistical methods in geography”, “Human geography (Суспільна географія)”, “Economic geography (Економічна географія)”, “Introduction to university studies”;
2. Knowledge of the theoretical background of social and economic geography, location of productive forces, management of regional development;
3. Possession of basic skills in general scientific methods, source analysis, cartographic modeling, system-structural analysis and historical-geographical approach.
Course content
The content component of the discipline includes the analysis of historical, geographical, political, social, economic, geographical, design and other aspects of the development of cities and urban systems. The relevance of the discipline is due to several provisions. First, today more than half of the world's population is concentrated in cities, which are the main form of human settlement. Secondly, urban formations are focal points for the interaction of social, economic, environmental, transportation, and other issues. Understanding this and possessing the necessary information and research methods for development management contribute to their
solution. Thus, thirdly, the study of the development of urban settlements and networks is important for both scientists and professionals who make decisions about the spatial organization of the development of any territory.

Lectures - 28 hours.
Practical classes - 28 hours.

Assessment methods and criteria
The course has 2 content parts. The course ends with an exam. Completion of all practical work and presentations at seminars is mandatory for admission to the exam. The level of achievement of all planned learning outcomes is determined by the results of speeches (presentations), essays, practical work, written module tests (test). The proportion of learning outcomes in the final grade, provided it is mastered at the proper level
is as follows: learning outcomes 1.1 - 1.10 (knowledge) - up to 5% each; learning outcomes 2 (skills of PLO 2.1-2.6) - up to 20%; learning outcomes 3 (communication) - up to 10%; learning outcomes 4.1-4.2 (autonomy and responsibility) - up to 10% each.
