Learning outcomes
PO02. To be able to carry out qualitative and quantitative analysis of substances of inorganic, organic and biological origin using appropriate methods. PLO06. Be able to determine and analyze the basic physical and chemical properties of organic compounds that are part of biological agents (proteins, nucleic acids, carbohydrates, lipids). PO12. Using microbiological, chemical, physical, physicochemical and biochemical methods, be able to carry out chemical control (determination of the concentration of disinfectant solutions, titration agents, concentration of culture medium components, etc.), technological control (concentration of carbon and nitrogen sources in the culture liquid during the process; concentration of the target product); microbiological control (determination of the microbiological purity of culture media after sterilization, microbiological purity of the biological agent, etc,)
Form of study
Full-time form
Prerequisites and co-requisites
1. Successful completion of the courses "Inorganic Chemistry with Fundamentals of Analytical Chemistry", "Bioorganic Chemistry", "Cell Biology". 2. Knowledge of the theoretical foundations of inorganic and bioorganic chemistry, the physicochemical foundations of the interaction of atoms and molecules in the formation of various chemical structures, as well as the foundations of their decomposition. 2. Be able to independently apply previously acquired knowledge in chemistry, cell biology and other disciplines, search for new scientific data, work with scientific and methodological litera
Course content
The academic discipline "Biochemistry" introduces students to the modern principles of synthesis, decomposition and interconversion of basic macromolecules in body tissues (proteins, lipids, carbohydrates and nucleic acids). Special attention is paid to the unique characteristics of each class of the above-mentioned substances, which make them the main elements in ensuring such vital functions as structuring all cell membranes, enzymatic catalysis and transmission and implementation of hereditary information. The concepts of energy value, signaling functions of individual representatives of each class of substances, and their involvement in the functioning of cell regulatory systems are also provided. The discipline presents modern ideas about the features of metabolic transformations of carbohydrates, lipids and proteins in normal and pathological conditions, taking into account molecular and biochemical mechanisms of regulation of metabolism and bioenergetic processes.
