Learning outcomes
Ability to generate new ideas in the field of private law (creativity). Ability to solve complex problems of updating civil legislation based on a systematic scientific outlook, professional ethics and general cultural outlook. Ability to plan and carry out original research, achieve scientific results that create new knowledge in the field of civil law and related interdisciplinary areas of private law and can be published in leading scientific journals in law and related fields. Ability to identify, pose and solve research problems regarding the areas of improvement of civil legislation and ensure the quality of research, compliance with intellectual property rights and standards of academic integrity.Ability to assess the prospects for future recodification (updating of the Civil Code), forecasting the enforcement of amendments and additions to the Civil Code of Ukraine, the impact on the general legal culture.
Form of study
Prerequisites and co-requisites
To know the basic principles and stages of European codifications, taking into account the experience of France, Germany, the Netherlands, the province of Quebec, the conceptual framework for recodification (updating) of civil legislation of Ukraine, the main directions of updating the Civil Code of Ukraine, its general provisions, and the main institutions of the special part.
Be able to identify and justify the main directions of recodification of civil legislation, use legal research methods, have the skills to participate in scientific discussions, conduct a critical, systematic and comprehensive analysis of the basic concepts and categories of private law.
Course content
The program is aimed at developing systematic knowledge of the basic principles and conceptual foundations of systematization of civil law, its evolution, development of scientific concepts of harmonization of private law, and mastering the experience of improving civil law in Western and Central Europe.

Planned learning activities and teaching methods
Lectures, seminars, self-study work of the graduate student on the basis of textbooks, abstracts, methodical recommendations, consultations with the teacher.
Assessment methods and criteria
The forms of student assessment include: express survey; colloquium; report; testing (choose the correct ones from a set of judgments); module test; case study.
The minimum score to be obtained by a postgraduate student on the relevant forms of assessment during the semester is 24 points, the maximum score is 40 points.
During the current control during seminar classes, the following are subject to evaluation: the level of knowledge demonstrated by the graduate student in the answer, activity in discussing practical training issues, systematic work in the classroom, and the results of homework.
The final work (exam) is evaluated in accordance with the Regulations on the criteria for evaluating the final forms of work of full-time and part-time students at the Educational and Research Institute of Law dated 29.08.2022.
