Learning outcomes
PLO 1. Formulate, analyze and synthesize solutions for scientific and practical problems. PLO 2. Develop, substantiate and make effective decisions on the development of socio-economic systems and management of economic entities. PLO 4. Develop socio-economic projects and a system of all-inclusive actions for their implementation, taking into account the goals, expected socio-economic outcomes, risks, legislative, resource, and other constraints. PLO 5. Adhere to the principles of academic integrity. PLO 7. Select effective methods for managing economic activity, ground proposed solutions based on relevant data and scientific and applied research. PLO 8. Collect, process, and analyze statistical data, scientific and analytical materials needed for solving complex political and economic problems.

Prerequisites and co-requisites
1. To know main concepts and laws of modern economics, basic economic models of the markets, general mathematical laws; regularities of a single random phenomenon and mass random phenomena. 2. To be able to think analytically, to apply mathematical knowledge and knowledge of economic laws to solve economic problems, to develop simple economic and mathematical models, to predict and to analyze economic conduct of business units under imperfect competition at the markets. 3. To have basic skills of learning, analysis, synthesis, comparison, abstraction, generalization, etc.
Course content
Course «Industrial organization» focuses on three groups of problems: theory of the firm – size, area of activity and conduct; imperfect competition – conditions of acquiring market power, forms of its exercise, factors of its maintaining and loss, price and non-price competition; societal policy towards business – feasibility of government intervention, scope of regulation, purpose, tasks and directions of regulation. The matter of industrial organization study is relationships and interrelations in individual industries and markets, their impact on structure and performance of the whole economy.

1. Theoretical discussions, oral tests – 10 points / 6 points 2. Preparation of presentations, fulfilment of calculation tasks – 10 points / 6 points 3. Midterm test (2 writing working papers, each for 10 points maximum) – 20 points / 12 points 4. Preparation and discussion of individual work (working paper) – 20 points / 12 points. 5. Exam – 40 points / 24 points.
