            1.1 Know the basic methodological principles of acquiring knowledge in positivist, interpretive, critical paradigms.
1.2 Know the conceptual framework and subject specifics of these paradigms.
2.1 To determine the cognitive potential of paradigms in research practice.
2.2 Evaluate the heuristic capabilities of research paradigms in the knowledge of modern social phenomena and processes.
3 Present a research project.
4 Carry out independent analytical, research and exploration activities.

            1. Know the main stages of development of sociology, key areas of modern sociological theory. 
2. Be able to work with scientific literature and primary sources. 
3. Possess the conceptual framework of modern sociological theory.
        
    
            Course content
        
        
            I. Methodological principles of paradigmatic approach. 
1 "Research paradigm": the origin and content of the concept. 
2 Possibilities and prospects of applying a paradigmatic approach to the systematization of sociological knowledge. 
3 Criteria for systematization of paradigms in sociology: the specifics of historical and methodological approaches. 
ІІ. Paradigmatic approach in modern sociological theory. 
4 Polyparadigmatic nature of modern sociological theorizing. 
5 Alternatives to the paradigmatic approach to describe the development and systematization of scientific knowledge: the theory of "research programs" by I. Lakatos and "discursive formation" by M. Foucault. 
6 Relevance of the paradigmatic approach for modern sociological theorizing.

            1. active work in practical classes - 22 points / 11 points 
2. performance of control works - 20 points / 14 points (2 works on 10 maximum or 7 minimum points for everyone).
3. implementation and presentation of the results of the research task - 18 points / 11 points 
final grade: written exam - 40 points (20 maximum points or 12 minimum points for each ticket question). The minimum score for passing the exam (overall positive grade) is 24 points.
