Learning outcomes
Know: Basic methods of mineral raw material evaluation; technological indicators of processing and their application; preparatory, main and final processes of mineral processing; main types of mineral processing schemes.
Be able to: Calculate the yield, content and extraction of components in the mineral concentrate and in the separation products; choose a processing scheme depending on the mineralogical, chemical composition and particle size of the mineral; independently design a methodology for calculating the main qualitative and quantitative processing indicators depending on the mineral processing scheme; determine the expected processing results based on the known separation characteristics of the separators and the char-acteristics of the particle distribution by mineral content.
Form of study
Prerequisites and co-requisites
1. Knowledge of general geology, mineralogy and other related geological disciplines.
2. Knowledge of the mineral composition and conditions of formation of rocks and ores.
Course content
The program of the discipline considers the main methods of assessing the quality of mineral raw mate-rials, preparatory, main and auxiliary processes used in the processing of minerals. Modern theoretical concepts of the processing of mineral raw materials are discussed - gravitational, flotation, magnetic, electrical and special. The topics of the seminar classes concern the stages of assessing the quality of mineral raw materials, the main designs of technological equipment for the processing of mineral raw materials, its principle of operation and technological characteristics. The topics of practical classes cover the calculation of the yield, content and extraction of the mineral component in the concentrate and in the separation products, as well as the choice of mineral processing schemes depending on the mineralogical, chemical composition and particle size of the mineral.

Planned learning activities and teaching methods
Lectures, practical classes, independent student work.
Assessment methods and criteria
The results of students' learning activities are evaluated on a 100-point scale. Final assessment in the form of written final test with a maximum score of 20 points, and a boundary minimum score of 12 points. Semester assessment - 80 points, which includes 2 modular tests, each of which is assessed within 15 points range (with boundary minimum of 9 points), practical work - 20 points and work at seminar classes – 30 points.
