Learning outcomes
Know: Features of the mineralogy of rare earth ores; genetic and geological-industrial types of deposits of rare earths and scandium; ore-controlling factors and search criteria for deposits of rare elements and scandium; world mineral and raw material base of rare elements and scandium; mineral and raw materi-al base of Ukraine in relation to rare earths and scandium.
Be able to: Use the knowledge gained to select the necessary set of methods when conducting prospect-ing work for rare earths and scandium; conduct a comparative analysis of factors and criteria for rare earth mineralization in different geological conditions.
Form of study
Prerequisites and co-requisites
Possession of elementary skills in the characterization of genetic and geological-industrial types of mineral deposits; Knowledge of the basics of geology of Ukraine and the world; Successful mastery of the theoretical foundations of the processes of formation of mineral deposits.
Course content
The program of the discipline focuses on a comprehensive characterization of rare earth and scandium deposits; provides general information on their composition and distribution; considers the mineralogical and geochemical features of ores of these elements; areas of application, technological types of ores and features of their processing. Considerable attention is paid to the description of typical rare earth depos-its in the world and Ukraine, and economic information is provided.

Planned learning activities and teaching methods
lectures, practical classes, independent work of students.
Assessment methods and criteria
Control is carried out according to the modular rating system and involves: completing tasks of independent and practical work (where students must demonstrate the quality of the acquired knowledge and solve the tasks set, using the methods and means outlined by the teacher) and conducting 2 written mod-ular control works. The final assessment is carried out in the form of a test.
