Learning outcomes
Know: to know basic geological structures and their arrangement on geological map of Ukraine ;
to know main features of distribution of useful minerals and factors which control them;
Be able to: to construct and analyze regional geological profiles; to construct geological sections that cross main geological structures; to make and analyze completed geologic and stratigraphic columns; to have knowledge and practical skills in understanding geological structure and evolution of certain re-gions of Ukraine, that is necessary for professional work.
Form of study
Prerequisites and co-requisites
Successful mastery of geological mapping methods. Possession of skills in compiling geological maps and constructing sections.
Course content
Geological structures of Ukraine which were formed during different periods of geological history are considered. Their physical and geographical features, current level of geological and geophysical study, stratigraphy, intrusive magmatism, tectonics, history of geological evolution and useful minerals are studied.
Aim of teaching discipline: - students should be acquainted with the basic structural elements which are comprised by Precambrian and Phanerozoic formations and distributed in territory of Ukraine with stud-ying their geological structures and useful minerals. Object of teaching discipline - comprehensive study of geological structure of Ukraine regions, including history and features of their geological evolution with revealing conditions of distribution and formation of useful minerals. At complex studying of une-ven-aged and polytypic regions of Ukraine basic training of students in the main branches of geological sciences - stratigraphy, tectonics, petrology, features of useful minerals distribution within certain folded and platform structures - is provided.
