Learning outcomes
Know the concept of stresses, methods for studying the stress state of a soil massif, the concept of the bearing capacity of a soil foundation, the stability of slopes and slopes, the concept of the dependence of deformations on stresses, types of deformations of soil foundations, the concept of rheological models of behavior of soil massifs. To be able to analyze the stress state of the soil base by the stress ellipse, the Mohr stress circle and stress tensors, determine the stress values from the own weight of the soil stratum and from the action of an additional load, analyze the phases of the stress state of the runt base, determine the critical loads on the soil from various structures, evaluate the resistance and slopes, calculate the values of active and passive pressure on retaining walls, Determine the magnitude of deformations of soil bases by different methods, analyze the change in the state of the soil base over time using rheological models
Form of study
Prerequisites and co-requisites
Have basic knowledge of geology, mineralogy, lithology, engineering geology and soil science
Course content
Students gain knowledge about the basic mechanical and mathematical models of the behavior of soil foundations under the action of additional loads, the patterns of phase changes stress state of soil foundations, determination of critical loads and bearing capacity of the soil foundation. They study the classification of landslides on slopes and slopes, as well as methods for assessing their stability, the basic equations for calculating deformations of soil foundations, the basic concepts of rheological models of the behavior of soil massifs and their application in predicting the consequences of the influence of technogenic factors on the "soil foundation - structure" system

Planned learning activities and teaching methods
Lectures, laboratory work, independent work of students
Assessment methods and criteria
Control involves lab works and 2 written tests. The final assessment is conducted in the form of a written and oral exam. The results of students' learning activities are evaluated on a 100-point scale. A student is not allowed to take the final grade if he/she scored less than 20 points during the semester. During the semester the student can score from 36 to 60 points. During the exam the student can get from 24 to 40 points
