Prerequisites and co-requisites
The discipline "Antenna systems and technology of the microwave range" is studied on the basis of the knowledge acquired by students during the study of the disciplines "General physics", "Higher mathematics" and "Special sections of higher mathematics", "Basics of the theory of circles", "Electrodynamics and propagation of radio waves"
Course content
The study of "Antenna systems and microwave technology" discipline allows to understand the nature of electromagnetic processes in microwave telecommunication systems. The educational discipline focuses on the study and description of processes in transmission lines, principles of construction of passive elements of the microwave range. Students acquire the basic skills of calculation and computer modeling of circuits and antennas of various types of complexity.
Recommended or required reading and other learning resources/tools
Microwave and RF Technology Prof. Dr.-Ing. K. Solbach Fachgebiet Hochfrequenztechnik University Duisburg-Essen Campus Duisburg. 10th Edition, summer semester, 2012.
Planned learning activities and teaching methods
Lectures, independent individual works
Assessment methods and criteria
Semester assessment: no more than 30 points are assessed for each of the two content modules (colloquium). Completion of each task from the modules with a total score of at least 15 points out of 30 is mandatory for release to the test. Final assessment in the form of a written test (0 - 40 points). The conditional achievement of a positive grade for a discipline is to obtain a total of points (for the semester assessment and test at the same time) of at least 60 points.
