Learning outcomes
Know; methods of marine geological research, features of geological structure and relief of the ocean floor, features of physical and geological processes in the oceans, general patterns of sedimentary ocean structure, classification and nomenclature of bottom sediments, conditions of ocean sedimentation, patterns of formation and distribution. Be able to: build bathymetric profiles and diagrams, analyze geological maps and sections, use specialized software for analysis of geological and paleogeographic data, perform paleogeographic reconstructions

To have basic knowledge of geological disciplines, which address the problems of historical geology, geomorphology, neotectonics, stratigraphy, paleontology and GIS technologies
Course content
This course analyzes the range of major problems of modern marine geology that need to be mastered in the fourth year of study and actually creates a basis for successful progress in the acquisition of geological knowledge. Students are acquainted not only with modern precipitation, but also with the native rocks of the seabed and oceans, their composition, structure, conditions of occurrence and formation, as well as geological processes within them. The connection between physical and geographical conditions and the formation of rocks, settlement and existence of organic life, with modern continental and transitional facies is studied, and approaches to their selection are highlighted. The regularities of distribution and formation of minerals within the World Ocean are analyzed, the issues of marine environment protection are covered.

Planned learning activities and teaching methods

Assessment methods and criteria
The results of students' learning activities are evaluated on a 100-point scale. Final assessment in the form of an exam with a maximum score of 40 points, a milestone score of 24 points. Semester evaluation: maximum score of 60 points, which includes writing 2 modular works, each is evaluated 1 15 points and 30 points are taken for laboratory work. The overall result is presented based on the results of the student's work throughout the semester, as the sum (simple or weighted) of points for systematic work during the semester and the points obtained for the exam.
