Learning outcomes
PLO 1. Communicate fluently on professional issues with specialists and non-specialists in the state and foreign (Spanish and English) languages orally and in writing, use them to organize effective intercultural communication. ELO 9. Characterize dialectal and social varieties of Spanish and English, describe the sociolinguistic situation. PLO 9. Characterize dialect and social varieties of English and two Western European languages, describe the sociolinguistic situation. PLO 14. Use Spanish and English in oral and written form, in various genre-stylistic varieties and registers of communication (official, unofficial, neutral), to solve communicative tasks in everyday, social, educational, professional, scientific spheres of life. PLO 16. Know and understand the basic notions, theories and concepts of the chosen philological specialization, be able to apply them in professional activities.

Prerequisites and co-requisites
1. Possess systematic knowledge of the Spanish language (phonetics, intonation patterns, grammar, vocabulary) not lower than B1+ level. 2. Be able to retell read/listened adapted texts in a foreign language and create their own oral and written texts in a foreign language on a relevant topic; be able to to express their own opinion on the topic and maintain a dialog in a foreign language. 3. Have basic listening and comprehension skills in a written text in a foreign language and understanding the content of a written text in a foreign language; have basic skills of textual analysis.
Course content
The discipline belongs to the elective block “Specialized Translation and Interpreting (Spanish, English)” of the educational and professional program. It involves working on grammatical topics from the advanced stage of study (B2/C1 level), expanding the vocabulary of general and special vocabulary (within the scope of the course), familiarizing oneself with the main speech types, analyzing texts of various structural and speech types and mastering the basic written genres of formal communication, further developing skills and abilities to understand the content and abstract original foreign language texts, oral and written.

Assessment methods and criteria
During the semester, the assessment is carried out in accordance with the types of work and forms of control described in paragraph 7.1. of the Program of the discipline and takes into account the results of the intermediate control in the ratio of 30% of the total number of points for the 5th semester. Completion of current homework: from 18 to 30 points per semester; extracurricular reading assignments: from 6 to 10 points in total for the semester; written work: min. 6 points, max. 10 points; test: min. 12 points, max. 20 points. Credit is awarded based on the results of the student's work throughout the semester and does not include additional assessment measures. Students who score the minimum positive number of points - 60 - receive "passed". Students who have scored a total of less than 60 points in a semester must pass at least 50% of the written assignments for the semester, as well as complete the test(s) that do not score the minimum number of points.
