Prerequisites and co-requisites
Know the trends of artistic processes in Western Europe, Asia and Africa; key concepts of art history;
Be able to identify and critically analyze analytical works on art history; describe and interpret works of art; Have the skills of source criticism, historical analysis, establishing cause-and-effect relationships.
Course content
Topic 1. History of art as a scientific and social phenomenon. Terminology, basics of historical narrative, modern sources of studying artistic processes
Topic 2. History of world museums in the XVIII-XIX centuries.
Topic 3. Museums and exhibition processes of the twentieth century: the period of exposition revolutions
Topic 4. The main current art collections of Ukraine, Western Europe and the United States: analysis and specifics of formation
Topic 5. History of the world art market: from the XVII century to the present
Topic 6. History of art as a history of patronage: a biographical analysis
