Prerequisites and co-requisites
To know: the main categories of international economics, the motives and prerequisites for business activity of economic entities, legal and economic environment; the basic historical preconditions of university education formation in the world; the features of world university traditions influence on the formation of the Ukrainian educational system; the current state of Ukraine's economy. To possess basic skills of forming independent conclusions about changes in Taras Shevchenko National University of Kyiv, skills of analysis, synthesis, processing and visualization of statistical data, to work with the legal framework, to logically explain the importance of foreign educational traditions on the Ukrainian university education system.
Course content
The discipline "Introduction to University Studies" structurally consists of two parts and includes Part 1 "History of the University in the context of the university education" and Part 2 "Introduction to the major "International Economics ". Part 1 includes an introduction to the original sources of classical education and its traditions. This part highlights the peculiarities of Western European university education at different stages of historical development from antiquity to the present; characteristics of the evolution of domestic higher education, the formation and progress of universities in the Ukrainian lands and in the Ukrainian diaspora; historical sketch of the foundation and further scientific and pedagogical activity of the University (XIX - XXI centuries). Analysis of modern world trends in higher education and their extrapolation to the situation at Taras Shevchenko National University of Kyiv. Part 2 includes a study of the internationalization of higher education in Ukraine and forms of its implementation, the acquaintance with the University Development Strategy for 2018-2025, the consideration of ethical principles and academic integrity in higher education, the study of key functional areas and current trends in international economics In general, the course forms an understanding of the essence of the international economy, the goals, the motives and the prerequisites of business activity of its subjects, the legal and economic environment of its development; the acquaints with types and forms of international economic activity; the ability to use the acquired knowledge to plan their learning activities in accordance with priorities.
