Learning outcomes
PLR 3. To know and use economic terminology, explain the basic concepts of micro- and macroeconomics. PLR 6. To use professional arguments to transmit information, ideas, problems and ways of their solving to professionals and non-professionals in the field of economic activity. PLR 7. To explain the models of socio-economic phenomena from the point of view of fundamental principles and knowledge on the basis of understanding the basic directions of the development of economics. PLR 21. To be able to think abstractly, apply analysis and synthesis to identify the key characteristics of economic systems of various levels, as well as the peculiarities of their subjects' behavior.

Prerequisites and co-requisites
Know the key aspects of the economy, the main concepts and laws of economic theory. Be able to think analytically, to apply in practice specific methods and techniques of learning for logical reasoning and evaluation of economic phenomena and processes. Possess skills of independent search, analysis and systematization of information of economic nature.
Course content
The discipline «Economic theory» refers to the list of disciplines that are compulsory to study. The discipline familiarizes students with the basic elements of the formation and development of economic theory as a science, in particular, its functions, subject and methods of research of economic phenomena and actions. The interdependence of economic processes and phenomena, cause-effect relations determining concrete-historical type of relations of production, distribution, exchange and consumption of public goods are disclosed. Significant attention is paid to the disclosure of the economic nature of market economy, its evolution and current state, the peculiarities of the market mechanism, the role of the state in modern models of economy. Theoretical and practical foundations of micro- and macroeconomic theory are considered, and the characteristics of the regularities of world economy development under the conditions of globalization and internationalization are given.

Assessment methods and criteria
Participation in seminars, performance of practical assignments, tests, individual independent assignments, the exam Evaluation rules. 1. Participation in seminars (theoretical discussions, speeches, substantive additions, computational tasks) (maximum/minimum) - 20 points / 12 points. 2. Control work (tests and calculation tasks on topics 1-17) (maximum/minimum) 30 points /18 points. 3. Individual independent assignment (report, essay, creative assignments) (maximum/minimum) 10 points/8 points. Final assessment in the form of an exam: maximum score – 40 points, the boundary score – 24 points. The exam is held in written form, consists of answers to theoretical questions, tests, disclosure of the content of economic concepts and categories, solving a calculation task.
