Prospects for the discovery of new oil and gas fields. The concept of hydrocarbon system from the standpoint of organic origin of oil and gas. Lithological, facial, petrophysical and industrial features of different types of reservoir rocks. Methods of studying the filtration-reservoir characteristics of reservoir rocks and methodological methods for estimating the limit values of parameters. Statistical methods of research of oil and gas reservoirs. Features of formation and distribution of oil and gas in shale strata, tight reservoirs. Development of productive objects (deposits, strata). The reasons for the omissions of oil and gas facilities at the stage of exploration. Stages of hydrocarbon deposits development. Methods of hydrocarbon production intensification.
Form of study
Full-time form
Prerequisites and co-requisites
Knowledge of the basics of petrophysics, petrography of sedimentary rocks, basics of petroleum geology.
Course content
Getting acquainted with the main directions of prospects for the discovery of new oil and gas fields in connection with the growing needs of society in hydrocarbons as sources of energy and raw materials for petrochemistry; the main components of the hydrocarbon system from the standpoint of organic origin of oil and gas; statistical methods of research of oil and gas reservoir rocks; problems of discovery and development of productive objects in oil and gas wells; the main reasons for the omissions of oil and gas facilities at the stage of exploration. The main problematic points in the search, exploration and development of oil and gas fields in order to increase the resource base and oil and gas production are considered.

Planned learning activities and teaching methods
Lectures, practical works, independent work of students.
Assessment methods and criteria
The control is carried out according to the modular rating system and includes: performance of 4 practical works (where students must demonstrate the quality of acquired knowledge and solve problems using the methods and tools outlined by the teacher), oral interview at seminars and 2 written modular tests. The final evaluation is conducted in the form of a written test.
