The main tasks and possibilities of geophysical methods in controlling the development of oil and gas fields. Methods of well logging in casing string and uncased wells, in horizontal wells. Well logging equipment. Features of formation and disbandment of the zone of invasion, promotion of liquid and gas-liquid contacts. Geophysical methods of quality control of casing cementing in wells. Tasks and features of thermal research in the working wells. Fundamentals of thermograms interpretation in order to study column flows, intervals of inflows and outflows of fluids. Tasks and main types of shooting and blasting works in wells. Determination of current values of oil and gas saturation of formations in operating wells by well-logging methods. Control over the promotion of gas-liquid and liquid contacts.
Form of study
Full-time form
Prerequisites and co-requisites
Knowledge of physics, chemistry, mathematics (at the level of non-core specialties), basics of petrophysics, petrography of sedimentary rocks, basics of oil and gas production technology. Successful mastering of discipline «Geological bases of hydrocarbon deposits development». Have basic skills in working with a personal computer.
Course content
Possibilities of well logging in the control over the development of hydrocarbon deposits. The peculiarities of research technology, methods of interpretation of well-logging data in order to solve a number of geological and technical problems are studied. Additionally, issues related to the conduct of blasting operations in wells are considered. Processes of formation and disbandment of the invasion zone in the wellbore space; methodical methods of control over the advancement of liquid contacts in the well section, estimation of current values of oil and gas saturation of productive formations.

Planned learning activities and teaching methods
Lectures, practical works, independent work of students.
Assessment methods and criteria
The control is carried out according to the modular rating system and includes: performance of 4 practical works (where students must demonstrate the quality of acquired knowledge and solve problems using the methods and tools outlined by the teacher) and 3 written modular tests. The final evaluation is conducted in the form of a test.
