Learning outcomes
- Basics of data interpolation and approximation - The concept of deterministic and stochastic methods of approximation - Geographical, projection and stratigraphic coordinates - Variogram data analysis. Variogram models - Deterministic methods of approximation - Basics of the kriging method. Varieties of kriging methods - Sharing multiple variables. Co-kriging - Methods of stochastic modeling - Calculate experimental and theoretical variograms - To approximate the data on the map by different methods, use the lines of rupture and constraint - Carry out a joint approximation of several variables
Form of study
Full-time form
Prerequisites and co-requisites
1. Knowledge of the theoretical foundations of geophysics. 2. Have the skills to work with spreadsheets, databases and others data sources. 3. It is desirable to have the skills to build maps of isolines (in manual or machine version).
Course content
Introduction to the basics of geostatistical analysis of geophysical data, variogram analysis, basic deterministic and stochastic methods data interpolation and approximation, stochastic modeling, etc. The theoretical bases of geostatistical methods (first of all, different kriging methods), their application in various applied problems of geophysics are studied. Students acquire practical skills in the analysis of spatial distribution of data and their correct approximation by models

Planned learning activities and teaching methods
Lectures, practical classes, independent work of students
Assessment methods and criteria
The control is carried out according to the modular rating system and includes: practical work (where students must demonstrate the quality of acquired knowledge and solve problems using the methods and tools outlined by the teacher), independent practical work (where students must demonstrate the quality of acquired knowledge and solve problems without limiting tools and techniques for solving the problem) and conducting 2 written modular tests. The final assessment is conducted in the form of a written and oral exam.
