Form of study
Prerequisites and co-requisites
For successful mastering of this discipline it is necessary to understand the general geological issues taught in such disciplines as "General Geology", "Hydrogeology", "Fundamentals of Geophysics", "Engineering Geology", "Fundamentals of Geochemistry", "Mineralogy", "Prospecting and Exploration of Mineral Deposits" and others; as well as physical and mathematical disciplines taught within the blocks of normative and variable disciplines: "Linear Algebra and Analytic Geometry, Mathematical Analysis, Physics, Probability Theory and Mathematical Statistics, Computational Mathematics.
Course content
The purpose of the discipline "Applied Mathematics in Geosciences" is to teach students to formulate and solve applied mathematical problems in the
in the field of earth sciences. The task is to acquire practical skills in mathematical formalization and solution of applied geological problems.
The course consists of two content modules. The first one is devoted to an overview of modern approaches to the formalization of geological problems and mathematical methods of their
and mathematical methods of their solution. The second content module is devoted to the application of applied mathematical methods to real problems of the geological and geophysical industry.
