Learning outcomes
Analyze the features of natural and anthropogenic systems and objects of the upper part of the Earth's crust and its sedimentary layer; Be able to communicate with specialists and experts of different levels of other fields of knowledge, including in the international context, in the global information environment; Plan and carry out scientific experiments, write scientific papers in the field of geoinformatics; To be able to carry out thematic processing and interpretation of geospatial data obtained by various methods of studying the geological environment, to develop appropriate algorithms and software products, to form geodatabases, to create web publications of cartographic data; Create specialized software products, use web technologies and remote sensing data in scientific and production activities.
Form of study
Prerequisites and co-requisites
The student should know:  features of registration of electromagnetic waves of different wavelengths;  physical fundamentals and hardware of remote sensing of the Earth, principles of registration and specifics of digital aerospace images;  concepts of sampling and quantization, concepts of spatial, spectral and radiometric resolution;  spectral analysis, filtering theory, basic concepts of probability theory and mathematical statistics, mathematical analysis, methods of computational methods of computational mathematics;  principles of geological interpretation of remote sensing data;  disciplines of the geological cycle: geotectonics, structural geology, lithology, hydrogeology, geomorphology, geophysics, eco-geology, etc.
Course content
The purpose of the discipline is to familiarize students with special issues of the theory and practice of radar surveys of the Earth from aircraft, their application and geological problems. The subject of the discipline includes the following main sections: physical fundamentals of radar soundings; theory and practice of interferometry; types of primary data, software and methods of radar data processing; solving neotectonics problems by radar interferometry. Objectives - to study the physical principles of radar soundings; theoretical foundations of interferometry; methodological and algorithmic foundations of registration, transformation, processing, conversion and visualization of digital radar images; acquisition of knowledge and skills for setting and solving geological (in particular, neotectonic), natural science (including environmental) problems, studying software products and methods of radar data processing; interpretation of processing results.

Planned learning activities and teaching methods
lectures, practical classes, independent work
Assessment methods and criteria
The control is carried out according to the module-rating system and involves: completion of 5 practical works (where students have to demonstrate the quality of of the acquired knowledge and solve the tasks using the methods and means outlined by the teacher) and 2 written module written module tests. The final assessment is conducted in the form of an exam.
